Salvation – Destiny of the human soul

Salvation is something that determines the destiny of the human soul for eternity. This has been the unquenchable thirst of man since time began. Salvation causes the union of human with the divine. God is holy, God is righteous, God is love and God is just. No sin can dwell with Him. God created man in his own image and likeness but due to disobedience and sin man lost the fellowship of God and became sinner. God loves man and wants to get him back. But due to sin and ignorance man has been separated from God and by his own imaginations gone away from God.

An Attempt of God

Man has been trying, seeking and pursuing to obtain salvation by his own efforts and this brought about different religions in the world. But God has made a way for man to find Him and come back to Him. That way is revealed to man in the good news of the Gospel. This gospel was brought by the Lord Jesus. Religion is the attempt of man to reach God whereas Gospel is the attempt of God to reach man. Human attempts to obtain salvation are all imperfect. So God himself has made a way for man to be saved. “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” 1Timothy 1:15

What is Salvation?

Salvation is deliverance from sin. The wages of sin is death but the gift of God through Christ Jesus is eternal life. Jesus Christ came into the world and took all the punishment of human beings upon him. The Bible says. “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

It is the Gift of God

Now salvation is a gift from God to man. Salvation is completed in Jesus by his death and resurrection from death. Therefore all those who believe and accept him as Lord shall be saved. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8

Salvation in the name of Jesus

The Bible declares “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 It is because Jesus died for the sins of men and rose again. “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” Romans. 4:25

The A B C of Salvation

A-    Accept that  you are a sinner and need salvation

B-    Believe in your heart that Jesus died for you and  God raised him from dead

C-    Confess with your mouth that He is your Lord

Salvation is not the outcome of human endeavor or the work of man but it is the gift of God. So to be saved a man has to accept salvation by faith. This is done by confession in faith – “If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord”, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” Romans 10:9,10 ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

Salvation is for all.

Salvation is for everyone; God has offered it to every creature and proclaimed this good news to all. “He said to them “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” Mark 16:15-16

The choice is yours either to accept or neglect the gift of salvation from God.
